Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Anchorage, Alaska – After losing 7-3 on Wednesday night the Salmon Kings enjoyed a couple days of rest and recuperation. Unfortunately it seems the break benefited the Aces just a little more.

A tough first period once again proved to be more than the Salmon Kings could overcome as they gave up a goal in the first minute for the 4th time this season. Alaska's Mike Lee recorded his 3rd goal of the season beating Salmon Kings starter Mike Brumby at the 1:00 minute mark. A power play goal at 4:16 by Chris Minard, a score by Mike Scott at 15:33 and finally a last-minute goal by Charles Linglet at 19:52 allowed the Aces to finish the 1st with a 4-0 lead. The 3rd Aces goal on eight shots once again forced coach Bryan Maxwell to replace starter Mike Brumby with Jeff Stone for the 5th time in this short season.

After being out shot 10-5 in the 1st period the 2nd period was a bit more even with the Salmon Kings' netminder Jeff Stone surrendering just a single goal while being out shot 11-9. Alaska's Charles Linglet recorded his 2nd of the game at 4:26 of the frame to put the Aces up 5-0.

The 3rd period proved to be a lacklustre period with the Aces content to take advantage of the Olympic sized sheet and simply play out the final 20 minutes. Victoria was however able to break the goose egg on a pair of power play goals, the 1st by Blue Bennefield at 4:02 and the 2nd by Rob Voltera at 18:59.

The Salmon Kings, now 2-8 on the season play the Aces again at 1:05 PM tomorrow afternoon in a game originally scheduled for 5:05 PM Alaska time. The Salmon Kings then return on Monday for a couple of games before heading back to California for games against Fresno (2) and Bakersfield. These three games are the final matches of the 14 game road trip that opened the inaugural Salmon Kings season.

The Salmon Kings play their first game home contest until December 5th at Bear Mountain Arena against the Bakersfield Condors.
