Bakersfield Condors News Release
Fresno, Calif. â The Fresno Falcons and Bakersfield Condors combined for 12 goals in a wild one at Selland Arena in Fresno on Tuesday night, won by the Falcons 7-5. It was the final road game of the regular season for Bakersfield.
The Condors fell behind early in this one. Fresno's Jordan Landry scored on the first shot of the game, beating goaltender Beau Fritz just 18 second in. Defenseman Cory Murphy made it 2-0 Fresno with a wrist shot from the right point that beat Fritz to the stick side. Bakersfield persevered, however, and pulled within a goal on the power play. Jeff Goldie banged home a centering pass from Christian Skoryna to cut the lead to 2-1 at 13:09. The Condors led in shots 13-6 after 20 minutes.
Fresno extended the lead in the second period with two goals inside 1:02. Glen Gulutzan and David Haas both tallied to push in front 4-1. Immediately after that, off the draw at center ice, Jason Jackman fed Jason Ralph alone into the Fresno zone, and he scored his 26th of the season to make it 4-2. Later in the second, Haas added his second of the game, redirecting a centering feed past Fritz to regain the three-goal advantage. The Condors made it 5-3 when J.J. Wrobel angled a pass from Jon Sorg past Fresno goalie Mark Gowan for his 12th of the season. Bakersfield and Fresno combined for 36 shots â a season high for the Condors.
The third period was wild as well, with the teams putting up two tallies each. Rob Bonneau added a goal to go with three assists just 1:20 into the final stanza. Wrobel answered less than a minute later with his second of the night. The Falcons pulled in front 7-4 at 5:58 with Drew Shoneck's eighth of the season, only to have the Condors come back with a power play goal by Ralph. It was the second of the game and 27th of the season for the second year winger. The Condors could get no closer and suffered the 7-5 loss. They finish the season series with Fresno, with a 13-2-1 record.
The Condors finish the regular season with a pair of home games this weekend against the Idaho Steelheads. On Friday night, Time Warner Cable and KBID 1350 present the return of the Rug Rats to Centennial Garden. On Saturday night, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors 5th Anniversary Cap, sponsored by Real Rock 104.3 and R.A. Kleiner Insurance. Both games start at 7:00pm.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
