Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades were upended by the Greenville Grrrowl 3-2 in the Southeast Divisional Wild Card game in front of 4,011 at TECO Arena on Tuesday night. Greenville forward Peter Flache scored two goals in the victory to advance the Grrrowl into the Southeast Divisional semi-finals against the Columbia Inferno.
The Everblades got on the board first on the power play after Brent McDonald snuck a shot past Greenville netminder Michael Garnett at the 17:41 mark of the first period. Forwards Laurent Meunier and Tom Buckley registered the helpers on McDonald's first tally of the post season.
In the second period the Grrrowl took a 2-1 lead on a pair of goals from forward Peter Flache.
In the third period, Florida evened the score 3-3 when Laurent Meunier flipped in his own rebound at the 2:26 mark of the period. Defenseman Brian Goudie registered the lone assist on Meunier's first goal of the playoffs. However, the Grrrowl reclaimed the lead for good after right wing Mike Henderson tucked in a rebound at the 3:51 mark of the period to make it 3-2.
