
Mark Pederson Named to All-WCHL Team

SAN DIEGO - Mark Pederson, San Diego Gulls leading scorer, was named today as a member of the 2002-03 All-West Coast Hockey League team.
Pederson, in his first season with the Gulls, has tallied 72 points - fifth in the WCHL - in 60 games played. He ranks second in the league with 39 goals and 16 power-play goals. The 6-foot-2-inch, 196-pound veteran forward from Prelate, Saskatchewan also leads the WCHL with four hat tricks, eight game-winning goals and is tied with a .227 shooting percentage. Pederson was also a two-time Player of the Week this season.
Before coming to San Diego, Pederson spent the last seven seasons playing in Europe. Counting this year, he has led his team in points and goals five different seasons. The 35-year-old was a first round selection (15th pick overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Pederson played parts of five seasons in the NHL with Montreal, Philadelphia, San Jose and Detroit.
