Bakersfield, Calif. â The West Coast Hockey League announced today that both C Paul Willett and G Kevin St. Pierre have been named to the All-WCHL Team. The selections were made from voting by head coaches, general managers and media.
Willett, 33, is ranked third in the league with 79 points, and has been at or near the top of the WCHL all season. His 56 assists is second in the league, and he is fifth in shots. In his fourth season with Bakersfield, Willett has been named to an All-WCHL team three times, and also picked up the league's Most Valuable Player Award in 1999-2000. He scored his 1,000th professional point on March 4th. The native of New Richmond, Quebec has 348 points (120g-238a) in 265 games in a Condors uniform. Willett has been a member of two championship teams in his career, winning a Turner Cup with Fort Wayne (International Hockey League) in 1992-93 and a Colonial Cup in Muskegon (United Hockey League) in 1998-99, when he led the UHL in playoff scoring.
St. Pierre, 27, has compiled a strong season between the pipes for Bakersfield, re-writing the franchise record book. He has led the league in save percentage (currently at .930) for the entire season, and also leads the WCHL in wins (36), goals against average (2.10), minutes (3,256) and saves (1,518) while ranking second in shutouts with four.
