
Walby, Scott and Gardner Named Sea Wolves Best in March

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced their monthly award winners for March, after completing the month with a 9-4-0 record.
Right wing Steffon Walby has been named the Sea Wolves Player of the Month for March. Forward Mike Scott captured Mississippi's Rookie of the Month honors and Greg Gardner took the team award for Goaltender of the Month.
Walby, 30, scored seven goals and registered 11 assists for 18 points in 13 games to go along with a plus-2 rating. The 6-foot and 200-pound native of Lodi, Wisconsin tied his team record with 42 goals this season. He also collected 47 helpers for a total of 89 points in 59 games. Walby is in his second season as the Sea Wolves player / assistant coach and team captain.
Scott, 25, registered six goals and nine assists for 15 points, while accumulating a plus-7 rating in 13 games. The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound rookie is a native of Calgary, Alberta. Scott has set rookie team records with 26 goals, 41 assists and 67 points. He was acquired in a trade with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on October 29.
Gardner, 27, backstopped the Sea Wolves to a 7-3-0 record in March. The 6-foot and 190-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario compiled a 3.16 goals against average and ..914 save percentage. Gardner set team records with 32 total wins, 2.77 goals against average and .919 save percentage. He signed with Mississippi as a free agent on October 5.
Mississippi opens the 2003 Kelly Cup Playoffs tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The Sea Wolves will play the winner of tonight's Southwest Division Wildcard Game between Jackson and Pensacola.
