Columbia's Vial, Pee Dee's Glumac Share C&T Hockey Products Plus Performer of the Year Award

PRINCETON, N.J. – The East Coast Hockey League announced on Tuesday that Columbia defenseman Dennis Vial and Pee Dee forward Mike Glumac are the 2002-03 recipients of the C&T Hockey Products Plus Performer of the Year.

The 33-year-old Vial and the 22-year-old Glumac finished the season tied with a plus/minus of +37.

Selected by the New York Rangers in the sixth round (110th overall) of the 1988 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Vial is in his second season with Columbia and has played 14 seasons professionally, including 242 games in the NHL with the Rangers, the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators. He scored 18 points (3g-15a) in 69 games while helping Columbia win the Southeast Division and the Southern Conference regular season titles.

In his first professional season, Glumac led ECHL rookies with 37 goals and tied for the rookie lead with seven game-winning goals while ranking fourth in rookie scoring with 69 points. Glumac, who played four seasons at Miami University (Ohio), led the Pride in goals, game-winning goals and power-play goals (9) while ranking third on the team in scoring. Named to the Southern Conference roster for the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game, Glumac was named the C&T Hockey Products East Coast Hockey League Plus Performer of the Month for November.
