Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â Mike Brusseau stopped 28 shots and Fresno scored three unanswered goals as the Falcons defeated the Bakersfield Condors 3-1 in front of 2,787 fans at Centennial Garden on Tuesday night.
Bakersfield had the lead when Denis Ladouceur's shot found the back of the net at 13:49 of the opening frame for his 10th of the season. That's all the Condors would get, however. Mike Mathers tied the game with his second of the season on the power play, when a dump into the Condors zone eluded goalie Shane Bendera and found Mathers open in front of the empty net at 17:24.
In the second, Fresno put the game away. Drew Shoneck scored the eventual game winner at 8:44 of the middle frame to make it 2-1. Later, with the Condors on the power play, Jason Weaver snapped home his 11th of the season and first shorthanded at 16:11 to bring about the final score of 3-1. There was no scoring in the third period, as Fresno tightened up the defense and cruised to the win. Brusseau stopped the final 23 Condors shots of the game for his first win of the season.
The victory snapped three skids for Fresno. They were winless in six games against Bakersfield coming in, winless in seven overall, and winless in 14 road games. The Condors will meet the Falcons in Fresno again on Saturday night as part of a two-game road trip to start the weekend. On Friday, Bakersfield travels to Long Beach for a 7:00pm match.
The Condors return home on Sunday, February 8th, to host the Trenton Titans on Poster Giveaway Night at 5:00pm. Everyone will receive the "Condors Boogie" poster, sponsored by the Groove 99.3. All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 and online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 prior to face off. The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl handles the play-by-play.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
