Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – It has been announced today that both the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL and the Bakersfield Blitz of the af2 will now be a part of a company called Bakersfield Sports Entertainment. The announcement was made at a media conference this afternoon.

The front office of the Condors and Blitz, which is currently growing with the addition of arena football to the fold, will still operate both teams. The name "Bakersfield Sports Entertainment," or BSE, is an external move designed to eliminate confusion and further streamline the business operations of both clubs. While the Condors and Blitz both operate with different phone numbers, they both connect to BSE and each member of the front office.

"Our new moniker will make it more distinguishable than just the Condors or just the Blitz office," said BSE President Matthew Riley. "At the same time, I think that our added responsibilities with football make this adjustment necessary. We're trying to meet the needs of both the fans of the individual sports and the community as a whole when it comes to family entertainment in Bakersfield, and this new umbrella will help us achieve that.

"A lot of thought was put into the name," Riley continued. "We are sports entertainment; that's what we do here in Bakersfield, so it makes sense. If you're interested in having fun, we're like a one-stop shop on an almost year-round basis. This is truly a new era in the history of professional sports and family entertainment in Bakersfield."

The team retail outlet for both teams will now be known as the Condors & Blitz Team Store, and is located at 1022 Truxtun Avenue, directly across the street from Centennial Garden. It's hours of operation are 11:00am – 5:30pm Monday through Saturday. The phone number is 324-NETT (6388).

The Condors travel to Long Beach on Friday and Fresno on Saturday, both 7:30pm starts, and return home on Sunday, February 8th, to host the Trenton Titans on Poster Giveaway Night at 5:00pm. Everyone will receive the "Condors Boogie" poster, sponsored by the Groove 99.3. All games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 and online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com, with "Condors Countdown" starting 15 prior to face off. The "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl handles the play-by-play.

The Blitz will host an open tryout camp on February 28th at the Bakersfield Convention Center, adjacent to Centennial Garden. The camp will run from 10:00am – 3:00pm. The cost is $50 per person, and includes an "I Tried Out For The Blitz" t-shirt, as well as two tickets to a Bakersfield Condors hockey game the following day. Cheerleader tryouts will immediately follow the football camp and is free of charge. For more information, contact the Blitz office at 716-BLITZ (2548).

Season tickets for the Blitz upcoming season start at just $63, and are on sale now by contacting the Blitz office at 716-BLITZ (2548) or by stopping by the Blitz and Condors office located in Centennial Garden. The Blitz and Condors have also teamed up for special discounts for those purchasing ticket packages for both teams. All Condors season ticket holders can receive 25% off a Blitz package containing the same number of seats.
