
A Sparrow lands with the Stealth

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth today announced that they has been assigned by the af2 league office, Defensive Specialist Ty Ardoin (6-0, 205, Texas Tech), Fullback/Linebacker Jeff Macrae (6-1, 270, New Mexico) Offensive/Defensive Lineman Carlos Delagarza (6-5, 350, Scottsdale Community College), Wide Receiver/Linebacker Christopher Highshaw (6-4, 190, Grambling), Wide Receiver/Linebacker Carl Richardson (5-10, 190, Western New Mexico), Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Charles Johnson (5-10, 195, Texas Tech), and Quarterback Aaron Sparrow (6-2, 210, Norfolk State).
Aaron Sparrow â This will mark Sparrow's third season in af2 and sixth in professional football. He began his career in 1997 playing in two games with the Nashville Kats. In 1998, he played in one game with the Grand Rapids Rampage, completing 13-of-16 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. In 2000, Sparrow played for the Augusta Stallions of af2 and completed 335-of-513 passes for 4,000 yards and 78 touchdowns and he rushed for 54 yards and 11 touchdowns. Last season, Sparrow played for the Norfolk Nighthawks and completed 239-of-395 passes for 3,006 yards and 51 touchdowns.
Sparrow currently sits fourth on the all-time af2 record books for highest passer rating in a Season (122.9 in 2000), and fourth in most passes completed in a season (335 in 2000). Sparrow is also third in highest completion percentage for a career (63.2%) and eighth in the same category for a season (65.3% in 2000).
"We are extremely pleased with the assignment of Aaron," said Stealth head coach Sean Ponder. "He is a five year veteran of the arena game and he averages about 75 touchdown passes a year in af2. He has a great knowledge of the game and we expect big things from Aaron."
Ty Ardoin â Ardoin returns for his second season with the Stealth. In 2003, he played in all sixteen games playing a variety of positions. Ardoin compiled eight receptions for 90 yards and one touchdown offensively and on the defensive side of the ball he tallied 58 tackles (34 unassisted) and three interceptions for 27 yards.
"It is great to have Ty back with us for the 2004 season," said Ponder. "He has worked extremely hard in the off-season and will be ready to go when training camp gets here."
Jeff Macrae â Macrae came to the Stealth late in 2003 and only saw action in three games compiling three tackles (two unassisted) and rushing the ball once for nine yards.
"Jeff is a big, physical fullback/linebacker," said Ponder. "He came in late last season and filled in nicely when we lost Daren Williams to an injury, so we are excited to have him back as well."
