Wichita Finishes Season 8-8 and Out of the Playoffs

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth began the night with playoff aspirations and ended the night with those playoff hopes dashed by the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. Craig Cole led the Dorados to a 47-43 victory with his Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game award winning performance in front of 2,966 fans at the Kansas Coliseum.

Cole put the Dorados ahead 23-20 on a 57-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and then scored again on a 15-yard pass from Abel Gonzalez to put the Dorados ahead 30-20 and they would never look back from there. Cole would finish the night with 10 catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns in addition to the kickoff return touchdown.

Damon Thompson who caught two passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns led the Stealth offense. Both Stealth quarterbacks, Heath Ridenour and Jonathan Beasley finished the night under 100 yards passing and were a combined 7-29 with three interceptions.

Other award winners on the night were: U.S. Army Ironman Anthony Griffin from Wichita and the ADT Defensive Player of the Game was Eddie Moten of Rio Grande Valley. Griffin had one catch for 45 yards and one touchdown on offense and one interception on defense. Moten finished the night with three interceptions and six pass defenses.

The Stealth finish the 2004 season with an 8-8 record and miss the playoffs by one game. The Dorados end their inaugural 2004 season with a 6-10 record.
