Aces change date, station for road matinee in Idaho

February 4, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces and Fresno Falcons have moved a game originally scheduled for February 15 to Monday, February 16, at Fresno's Save-Mart Center, with the opening face-off slated for 12 p.m. AST. The game, along with two others later this month at Idaho, has been scheduled for broadcast on KHAR 590 AM.

The Presidents' Day clash will be broadcast live on KHAR 590 AM, with coverage beginning at 11:45 a.m. AST. KHAR 590 AM is part of the Anchorage Media Group, the same organization that boasts the official home of Alaska Aces hockey, KFQD. KHAR 590 AM is Alaska's premier Adult Standards station, a music intensive format that bridges the gap between soft adult contemporary and nostalgia.

After scoring the game-winning goal for Providence (AHL) last Saturday, Alaska's leading goal-scorer, Mike Scott, will not be in the lineup for this weekend's series against the third-place Las Vegas Wranglers, the only team against which the Aces have a losing record this season. Scott will remain with the Bruins for Friday's home game against Hartford and Saturday's road contest at Portland.

Charles Linglet, tied for fifth among ECHL rookies with 38 points, figures to be with the Grizzlies for the remainder of a grueling road trip that continues Thursday at Houston, Friday in Cincinnati, and Saturday at Milwaukee. Linglet managed one shot on goal last night in his second game for Utah, a 3-1 loss in Houston.

Alaska's third-leading scorer, Mark Smith, broke his thumb during Wednesday's practice and likely will be placed on the 30-day injured reserve list. He scored three goals and assisted on two others in a sweep of Idaho at Sullivan Arena January 23-24. The Aces will play the Steelheads again in three weeks, with the first two games of that series (February 25 and February 27) also scheduled for broadcast on KHAR 590 AM, with coverage beginning at 4:45 p.m. AST each night.

The series opener between Alaska (24-14-3) and Las Vegas takes place Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and continuing Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 p.m. The Saturday tilt will be preceded by the fourth annual Guns ‘N Hoses charity hockey game at 4:00 p.m., pitting the Anchorage Fire Department and the Anchorage Police Department and benefiting the American Diabetes Association. This weekend's games will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
