SAN DIEGO â The Gulls are once again making their presence felt around San Diego. The team will participate in several community events in February, leading up to their 13th annual Tip-A-Gull charity event on Feb. 29.
Here are the upcoming events the Gulls' players and coaches will be participating in:
February 4th: B.J. MacPherson to Appear on NBC - Former Gulls' player and current broadcaster, B.J. MacPherson, will appear on the NBC 6 o'clock news at the premier of the Walt Disney movie "Miracle", at the Edwards Mira Mesa 18 Cinema.
February 9th: College Night Promo at USD - David Neale and Clayton Read will be signing autographs at the University of San Diego on Monday, Feb. 9 from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event is being held to promote College Night at the Sports Arena, on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Students who present a college ID will receive $7 terrace level tickets, as well as $2 beverages during the game.
February 11th: Window Factory Commercial â Gulls players will be filming a commercial to promote the Window Factory's new "unbreakable glass". The Gulls will be featured shooting pucks at the glass and the ad will begin airing soon.
February 11th: "Dunk-A-Gull" Event at Dick's Last Resort - Several San Diego Gulls will be cooling down as a warm-up for their 13th annual Tip-A-Gull event when they host the first ever "Dunk-A-Gull" night, Feb. 11 at Dick's Last Resort in downtown San Diego. The event will give fans a chance to soak their favorite Gulls players in a dunk tank with proceeds benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County.
From 5-9 p.m. fans will have a chance to dunk several of their favorite Gulls players and coaches as well as other local celebrities. Dunk tank balls can be purchased for $2 each or three for $5. Fans will be given a raffle ticket with each ball purchased and can win free gift certificates to be used for the Gulls' 13th Annual Tip-A-Gull night on Feb. 29, also held at Dick's Last Resort.
February 12th: Employee Luncheon at Asset Marketing Systems - Several Gulls players will be signing autographs and mingling with attendees at Asset Marketing Systems employee luncheon. The event will feature more than 250 employees and last from 12:30 â 2:30 p.m.
February 16th: Gulls Internet Radio Show - The Gulls internet radio show, hosted by Tera Black and Jeremy Zager, kicked off its 2004 season on Jan. 19 and will continue to air every other Monday from 2pm - 3pm on wsRadio.com. The show features team reviews, previews of upcoming games and grade reports for the Gulls' divisional rivals. The show will also feature live interviews with many of your favorite Gulls players and coaches. And if you can't listen live, you can always check out past shows by going to wsRadio.com's archives.
February 29th: 13th Annual Tip-A-Gull Charity Event - The Gulls will host their 13th annual Tip-A-Gull event on February 29th from 5pm to 9pm at Dick's Last Resort in Downtown San Diego. The event features your favorite Gulls players serving as bartenders and waiters and will also include a live auction.
Items for auction will include various sports memorabilia such as autographed jerseys, sticks, baseballs and hats as well as tickets to sporting events throughout Southern California. Gulls tickets will also be auctioned off as well as a "Date with a Gull." Players will also be available for photos and autographs.
All proceeds will benefit United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County and KSWB Cares for Kids. UCP is recognized as one of the largest and most efficient health charities in America, and its affiliate in San Diego spends approximately 84 percent of its total income on community programs and services. Last year, the Gulls helped raise nearly $20,000 for UCP, the most in the event's history.
March 1st: Mike Garrow and Dan Cousineau to Speak at King Middle School - Gulls' players Mike Garrow and Dan Cousineau will appear at an assembly for students at King Middle School. The players will discuss hockey and the importance of education with sixth, seventh and eight-graders, as well as handing out prizes and signing autographs for students.
March 2nd: Gulls' Bowling Night - The Gulls are inviting you to "Bowl with the Gulls" on Tuesday, Mar. 2 at Kearny Mesa Bowling Alley, from 8pm to 11pm.
For just $15, you'll get to bowl with your favorite Gulls player and participate in a special live auction to benefit the San Diego wildfire victims. A free hot dog, soda and shoe rental are included, and prizes will be given to winner of each game!!!
It all starts at 8 p.m. when you'll check-in and meet and greet the team. The live auction will begin at approximately 8:15pm. Bowling will go from 9pm to 11pm. Each Gulls player will bowl in his own lane with up to four other people. Sign-ups will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, so make sure you reserve your space now. THIS EVENT SOLD OUT VERY QUICKLY EARLIER THIS SEASON.
