Escobedo, Cuppett Sign With Cyclones

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Friday (Feb. 23) they have signed goaltender Chris Cuppett and defenseman Brian Escobedo to contracts. Both players are expected to be in uniform for tonight's game at Trenton at 7:30pm.

Cuppett, 27, played collegiately at Washington and Jefferson-helping the Presidents to the 2002 ECHL championship. He stopped 37 shots and was named the league's playoff MVP in the 5-4 overtime win in the finals against Mercyhurst College, exactly five years ago today.

Escobedo, 24, played collecgiately at Bowling Green State, appearing in 146 games during his four-year career from 2000-01 through 2003-04. His first professional stop was with the Cyclones during 2003-04, collecting assists in his first two pro games. Brian has appeared in 92 pro games, all in the ECHL, with seven teams in nearly three seasons. He has seven goals and 28 assists for 35 points during those contests.

The Cyclones are next in action at Trenton tonight. It is the second game of a seven game road trip for the club which will keep it away from U.S. Bank Arena until Friday, March 9 when Dayton visits.
