Chiefs keep Nailers in Czech

Johnstown, PA (February 23, 2007) - The Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Wheeling Nailers by a score of 4-1 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia on Friday evening.

Wheeling got on the board first, with Vin Hellemeyer ripping a shot from the left wing past Chiefs goaltender Morgan Cey at 7:46 of the first period.

The Chiefs would get on the board at 9:04, when Zbynek Hrdel scored on the rebound of a shot from Gus Katsuras. Radek Smolenak would add his 13th goal of the season at the 16:00 mark of the second period, taking a pass in the low slot and making a move to draw Wheeling goaltender Andy Franck to the ice before depositing the puck behind him.

Dmitri Tarabrin gave the Chiefs a 3-1 lead, breaking over the blueline and ripping a shot through Franck's legs at 17:16 of the third period. Jean Desrochers would add a shorthand goal on the empty net at 18:59 of the third to secure the win for Johnstown.
