(Southaven, MS) - The Mississippi RiverKings, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, are announcing the selection of forward Louis Dumont to the 2009 CHL All-Star Team. The selection of Dumont as one of the all-star team reserves marks the first time he's been chosen for the all-star game.

This season is Dumont's third campaign with the RiverKings, but Dumont been playing professional hockey since the 1994-95 season, when he came out of the Western Hockey League to play in the ECHL and AHL.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward played in all 64 regular season games for the RiverKings last season. Dumont was fourth on the RiverKings' stat sheet in points with 51 and his 35 assists ranked him third on the team in that category. Dumont added three assists in the playoffs.

Dumont began his professional career in the ECHL at Tallahassee and Wheeling in the 1994-95 season, along with a short visit that year to the American Hockey League with Syracuse. From there, Dumont spent the next several years playing for a number of ECHL teams, including Louisiana, Pensacola, Augusta and Mississippi, with brief appearances in the IHL, AHL, and in Great Britain, before first coming to the RiverKings in 2006. He's been in the Mid-South ever since.

Dumont's name still dots the ECHL record books, including most career points (891) and most career assists (566). He's second in their record book in most career games played (771) and most career goals (325). Twice in his ECHL career (2002-Pensacola and 2004-Mississippi Sea Wolves), Louis has been named ECHL "Ironman of the Year" by the Professional Hockey Players Association for playing in every game of the season and showing exceptional offensive and defensive skills.

While in Louisiana, Dumont played with former RiverKing Don Parsons and played for former RiverKings Coach Doug Shedden.

This year's CHL All-Star game will take a different format from previous years, as the host Colorado Eagles will play the league all-star team in the event, set to be played at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009. The Eagles, coached by former RiverKings' coach Kevin McClelland, will play the CHL All-Stars, co-coached by Oklahoma City coach Doug Sauter and Odessa Jackalopes coach Paul Gillis.

The next Mississippi RiverKings' home game is Friday, January 2nd at the DeSoto Civic Center, when the RiverKings host the Oklahoma City Blazers at the DeSoto Civic Center, beginning at 7:05 PM.
