The Bucks return home from a four-game road trip that saw them go 0-2-2, including a 1-0 shutout loss to the Killer Bees on December 22nd.
Laredo enters tonight's game with a two-point lead (39 to 37) over Texas in the Southeast Division, but trail Odessa by five points for first in the Southern Conference.
The Bucks will be without their top goal producer, and second-leading scorer Darryl Smith, who was called up to the AHL's Houston Aeros on Tuesday. Smith had 39 points (19-19=38) in 29 games for the Bucks.
Jeff Bes enters tonight's game in third place in the CHL scoring race with 44 points (10-34=44).
The Bucks and Killer Bees have played seven games against each other this season, with the home team coming out victorious in each one. Laredo has won all four games at the LEC, while Rio has taken all three meetings at the Dodge Arena.
Home cooking might be just what the Bucks need, as they have a a CHL-best 13-3 home mark, including a five-game home winning streak.
Team Captain Serge Dube is expected to play tonight. Dube was a healthy scratch in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss in Rocky Mountain.
Rio comes into tonight's game winning two of their last four games, including back to back shutouts last week. The Killer Bees beat the Bucks 1-0 last Monday, before blanking Texas 3-0 on Friday.
Robin Bouchard, the Bees leading scorer with 28 points, left the team prior to Tuesday's game with Corpus Christi due to a family illness. As a result Rio has just 13 skaters for tonight's match-up.
The Bucks will play their first game of 2009 on Saturday, when they host the Texas Brahmas in a big Southeast Division match-up.
*Help Sell Out "Pink In The Rink Jan 9th*
The Bucks announced that they will donate $10,000 to Wings if the January 9th "Pink in the Rink" game at the LEC is sold out. If the Bucks sell out the game with 8,002 fans, the team will donate $10,000 to Wings.
WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality, comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. WINGS has served Central and South Texas for over nine years, and now, WINGS Laredo is the newest chapter to bring these life-saving services directly to the women and men of Laredo.
The Bucks will hold a "pink out" that night, as they will wear pink jersey's, and they will ask fans to wear pink to the game to support the cause. Before the game pink thunder stix will also be handed out to fans.
