Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - This season Dominic Leveille leads the CHL with 47 points and Russ Moyer is tied for the lead among defensemen with 30 points - both players will represent the Odessa Jackalopes at the CHL All-Star Game on January 14th.
All-Star coaches Doug Sauter and Odessa's Paul Gillis picked their roster of reserve players after the starters were voted on and named on Tuesday. This season's format of the Colorado Eagles vs. the CHL All-Stars limited the amount of available roster spots for CHL players. The Jacks are just one of three teams to send more than one player to the CHL All-Star Game. Oklahoma City and Laredo are the others.
Leveille currently has 13 goals and 34 assists this season for a league leading 47 points. His 34 assists are also tied for first in the league with Laredo's Jeff Bes. Moyer has recorded eight goals and 22 assists this season for 30 points which is tied with Amarillo's Sam Ftorek for the lead among defensemen. Moyer's 22 assists are tops among CHL defensemen.
The starters for the CHL All-Stars this year are Joel Irving (ARZ), Rich Hansen (RPD), Darryl Smith (LAR), Justin Kinnunen (TEX), Sam Ftorek (AMA), and Andy Franck (OKC).
The reserves in the game are Leveille (ODE), Moyer (ODE), Travis Clayton (BOS), Jeff Christian (TUL), Chris Richards (CRP), Daymen Rycroft (RMR), Jason Duda (WIC), Louis Dumont (MIS), Nicolas Dumoulin (RGV), Tyler Fleck (OKC), Aaron MacInnis (NMX), Sebastien Centomo (LAR).
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
