[PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.]-The Scorpions fell on the final day of 2008 to the Sundogs 4-1. New Mexico returns home on Friday to face the Rocky Mountain Rage.
The first period was fast paced with Arizona grabbing a two goal lead. A.J. MacLean slid the puck into the net at the 13:05 mark to open the night's scoring. The lead grew when Karl Sellan tipped in a goal with under a minute remaining in the opening frame.
Rob Lehtinen gave Arizona a 3-0 lead with his first goal of the season at 3:12 into the second period. The Scorpions got on the board when Craig Macdonald tipped in a power play goal. Seth Leonard shot the puck towards the net and Macdonald tipped the flying rubber out of mid-air and just under the crossbar.
After an icing call, Arizona's Adam Perry won a draw back to Jon Landry. Landry fired a slap shot up and over goaltender Andrew Martin to make it a three-goal game.
