December 31, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 31)-The Brahmas ended 2008 with a bang at the NYTEX Sports Centre scoring two powerplay and two shorthanded goals in their 5-2 victory over Corpus Christi.
After a scoreless first period the IceRays began the middle frame on the powerplay and were able to convert on the first shot of the period. It was Adam Powell's 13th of the year. Texas found themselves shorthanded once again, but a pass from Brett Jaeger and Grant Jacobsen found Jordan Cameron to beat Odessa goaltender Kris Tebbs top shelf. It was the Brahmas eighth shorthanded goal of the season and Cameron's second of the year.
The Brahmas returned to the ice for the third period with a one minute two man advantage, and despite not being able to score with two in the box for Corpus, Brahmas leading goal scorer Scott Sheppard was able to put Texas up 2-1 on the powerplay. A minute later Brahmas defenseman Kevin McLeod followed up with a powerplay goal of his own, his sixth of the season.
Once again Texas found themselves in the penalty box, but forward Matt Quinn gave the Brahmas the league leading ninth shorthanded goal of the year. Corpus was able to beat Jaeger for the second time of the night, but Jacobsen started his own New Year's Eve fireworks at the NYTEX Sports Centre with a beautiful wrap around goal at the 16:57 mark in the third to give Texas the 5-2 win over their Southeast divisional rivals.
