Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and the Central Hockey League today announced that Killer Bees rookie defenseman Nic Dumoulin has been named to the CHL All Star Team. Dumoulin will be one of 18 players representing the league in a game against the Colorado Eagles on Jan. 14 at the Budweiser Events Center.
The 23-year-old Prevost, Quebec, native leads Killer Bees defensemen in scoring with 22 points (8-14-22) and is second on the team overall. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound rearguard leads the team in power play points (4-9-13) and is one of the top scoring defensemen in the league. He is the fifth-leading rookie scorer in the league and is tied for third among all defensemen in goal scoring.
"Nic is a talented young defenseman who has helped quarterback our power play this year," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "He's deserving of this opportunity to showcase his skills and will represent the Killer Bees well."
The CHL released the starting line-up for the All-Stars yesterday. Selections were determined by balloting among the league's head coaches, communications departments, and select media members. The starters for this year's All-Star game are forwards Joel Irving (Arizona), Rich Hansen (Rapid City), and Darryl Smith (Laredo); defensemen Justin Kinnunen (Texas) and Sam Ftorek (Amarillo), and goaltender Andy Franck (Oklahoma City).
The reserves were selected by the two co-coaches (Doug Sauter of Oklahoma City and Paul Gillis of Odessa) of the CHL All-Star team. Other reserves include forwards Daymen Rycroft (Rocky Mountain), Chris Richards (Corpus Christi), Jeff Christian (Tulsa), Dominic Leveille (Odessa), Jason Duda (Wichita), and Louis Dumont (Mississippi); defensemen Aaron MacInnis (New Mexico), Russ Moyer (Odessa), Tyler Fleck (Oklahoma City) and Nicolas Dumoulin (Rio Grande Valley), and goaltender Sebastien Centomo (Laredo).
