CINCINNATI, Ohio - Jean-Francois Damphousse made 29 saves and Jonathan Hedstrom added two assists as the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks beat the Syracuse Crunch 4-2 Friday at the Cincinnati Gardens.

Cincinnati defeated Syracuse for the fifth straight time at home dating back to last season and improved to 18-6-2-1 all-time against the Crunch.

Samuel Pahlsson, Travis Brigley, Ben Guite and Rob Valicevic all scored for Cincinnati, which is unbeaten in its last three games (2-0-1-0).

Damphousse, a first-round pick by New Jersey in 1997, stopped 15 shots in the first period, eight in the second and six more in the final 20 minutes en route to his second straight win.

"We came out of the game with one of our poorer efforts and we still won the game," Ducks coach Brad Shaw said. "I wasn't happy with a lot of aspects of our game. I thought we were very sloppy with the puck and our work ethic wasn't what we should expect from one another and what's necessary to win on a consistent basis. J.F (Damphousse) was the one consistent thing throughout the night and he's been great all year for us."

Jeremy Reich and Rob Davidson had a goal and an assist each for Syracuse, which got 26 saves from Karl Goehring. The Crunch, Triple-A affiliate for the Columbus Blue Jackets, have lost three in a row and have just one victory in six tries this season (1-5-0-0).

The Ducks complete a two-game series with Syracuse and a six-game homestand Saturday at 7:35 p.m. at the Gardens. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Ducks' 2002-03 team photo presented by Bigg's.
