
Dayton Uses Third Period Rally To Upend Cyclones, 3-2

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Dayton Bombers forward Justin Meiser's goal with 37.4 seconds remaining lifted the squad to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones Thursday night (April 5) at U.S. Bank Arena. Maiser, who has 49 points this season and only three against Cincinnati, fired the shot from the left side of the Cyclones net to tally the game winner.
Cincinnati opened the scoring at 4:21, when Barett Ehgoetz tipped home his 18th goal of the season at the far side post, after Nick Martens intercepted a pass at the right point and skated in on goal . Martens threw a pass through the crease to Ehgoetz, who pushed it past Bombers netminder Adam Bekhoel.
Before the first period ended, Greg Labenski tied the score with his fifth score of the season at 12:51. The power play goal was assisted by Matt Herneisen and Yannick Tifu. The first period ended, 1-1, and the shots favored the Cyclones, 12-7.
The Cyclones took the lead, 2-1, when Travis Lisabeth netted his 20th goal of the season at 5:48, with Ehgoetz adding the assist on the go-ahead goal. Cincinnati outshot Dayton, 14-10, in the middle frame. Cincinnati which was 29-1 entering the game when leading after two periods, saw the Bombers net a pair of goals in the final frame to pick up the victory.
Mike Berry picked up his 19th goal on the power play at 12:47 and then Maiser's last minute heroics sealed fate.
The Cyclones are now 37-28-4-2, second in the North Division two points behind Dayton. Dayton is 37-25-2-6 on the season. The Cyclones return to U.S. Bank Arena for the regular season finale Friday night (April 6) against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:30pm.
