
Checkers hold fundraiser for fallen CMPD officers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that the team will be holding a fundraiser this Saturday for fallen Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers, Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton.
The Checkers will donate $6 to the families of the officers for each ticket purchased through the team's Web site using a special promotional code. To purchase these tickets, visit www.gocheckers.com, click on the 'Group Promo Code' link on the left side of the page and enter CMPD. The code will expire 24 hours before game time.
The Checkers are also raffling off Chief Stephen's Jersey from the Salute to Heroes game on March 11. The raffle began at the game April 4th and the winner will be announced before the end of the last period at the last game of the season on April 7th, 2007.
The Checkers are at Cincinnati tomorrow at 7:30 pm. Join the Checkers at Picasso's Uptown for a viewing party beginning at 7:00 pm. Picasso's will have Bud and Bud Light on special for $2. The Checkers wrap up the regular season at home Saturday against Columbia at 7:30 pm. The first 2,000 fans to Saturday's game will receive a Checkers house flag courtesy of SunCom Wireless and WRFX.
