
Daniel Eichelberger Rejoins Kernels; Ryan Jones to Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that OF Daniel Eichelberger will rejoin the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and that OF Ryan Jones has been assigned to Extended Spring Training. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Thursday.
The Angels drafted Eichelberger, 23, in the 20th round of the 2009 Free Agent Draft out of East Central Community College in Decatur, MS. In 42 games at Orem last year, he hit .252 with three HR and 15 RBI. In his first stint with the team, he appeared in one game as a pinch-hitter, going 0-1.
Jones played in 18 games for the Kernels as a member of the 2011 Opening Day roster, batting .145 with two doubles and four RBI.
Eichelberger will be active for tonight's 6:35 pm game with Burlington. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster stands at 25 active players, the MWL maximum, with no one currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels continue a six game home stand with a 6:35 pm game against the Burlington Bees. Fans can enjoy all the action with Morgan Hawk on the radio home of Kernels baseball, 1450 KMRY AM or listen on-line at www.kmryradio.com, or www.kernels.com .
Tonight is a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday and Cinco de Mayo Party at the stadium, where 12 oz. draft beer, including Dos Equis, is $1.50 and bottled soda and water is $2. Fans can enjoy special Mexican food from the Señor Shucks Food Cart on the concourse and main concession stands.
