
Lutz, Smith Named Dragons Players of the Month

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced their batter and pitcher of the month winners today for the month of April.
After fan voting this week, Donald Lutz (batter) and Josh Smith (pitcher) were selected as the April Players of the Month.
Lutz, a first baseman/designated hitter, finished the month of April with a batting average of .301. He hit a team-leading five home runs and drove in 10 runs. Other nominees for the Batter of the Month were first baseman Dominic D'Anna and shortstop Billy Hamilton.
Smith went 2-1 with an outstanding 0.93 earned run average for the month in five starts. He limited opposing batters to a combined average of .141. Smith was also named Cincinnati Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April. Other nominees for the Dragons Pitcher of the Month were relievers Pat Doyle and Blaine Howell.
Both players will appear at the Player of the Month luncheon at 12:00 noon tomorrow (Friday, May 6) at Texas Roadhouse, 2600 Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs.
