February 14, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, announced Wednesday (Feb. 14) that they have acquired forwards Travis Lisabeth and Mike Wirll from the Pensacola Ice Pilots in exchange for defenseman Jarred Mohr and forwards Torry Gajda and Erik Johnson.
Lisabeth, 26, is in his sixth season as a pro. His season began in Phoenix (ECHL), where he appeared in nine games, netting three goals and an assist for four points before being traded to Pensacola. In 25 games with the Ice Pilots, Travis gathered nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points and was a +15 plus/minus rating. Last season, Lisabeth scored 50 points (18-32-50) in 60 games with Columbia (ECHL). He also appeared in 18 games with Edinburgh (British Elite League), scoring eight goals and adding a pair of assists for ten points.
Wirll, 24, is in his fourth pro season. Starting the 2006-07 season with Utah (ECHL), he played in 13 games and netted nine points on six goals and three assists. He was traded to Pensacola and had a team-high 25 goals and 16 assists for 41 points in 34 games. Mike has also tallied nine power play goals this season. Last season, he began with Victoria (ECHL), appearing in 39 games and collecting eleven goals and 28 assists for 39 points. Wirll finished the season with JYP HT Jyvaskyla (Norway), appearing in ten games and collecting an assist.
"It's never easy to squeeze the trigger on a trade," Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "This was an opportunity for us to gain players with experience. Travis Lisabeth was a leader in Pensacola and its fourth leading scorer and Mike Wirll led Pensacola in scoring."
"We're giving up three promising young players and wish them the very best in their pro careers-as we know they will be solid contributors for Pensacola," Weber continued. "These guys are great guys on, and off, the ice and a big reason we are where we are in the standings."
Pensacola acquires Cyclones defenseman Jarred Mohr, who appeared in 44 games with the club, collecting two goals and five assists for seven points, forward Torry Gajda, who played in 33 games and tallied eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points and forward Erik Johnson, who was in 26 contests and had three goals and three assists for six points.
Lisabeth and Wirll may arrive in time for the Cyclones next game, a 7:30pm tilt with Reading tonight (Feb. 14) at U.S. Bank Arena.
