
Wildcatters Now Alone in First Place with 4-2 win at Columbia

Columbia, SC (February 13, 2007) Marco Rosa scored the game winning goal and Matt Yeats made 25 saves as the Wildcatters (28-14-4-4) finished up their five game road trip on a high note, defeating Columbia 4-2 in front of 2,291 at the Carolina Coliseum. Jason Beeman, Jeff State and Olivier Proulx also scored goals for Texas who concluded the five game road trip with a 3-2-0 record.
Beeman lit the lamp for the 'Catters just 33 seconds into the game, scoring his 8th goal of the year with a beautiful centering pass from Olivier Proulx to make it 1-0 Texas. Then, 'Catters defenseman Jeff State would give Texas a 2-0 lead as he beat Goaltender Robert Gherson with a shot from the point for his first goal of the season. Columbia got on the board as Owen Fussey beat Matt Yeats to cut the lead to 2-1.
The Inferno tied it up at two in the second period as defenseman Tyson Marsh beat Yeats from the point. The 'Catters came right back as Marco Rosa netted his 25th goal of the season and Texas led 3-2. Olivier Proulx added his 21st goal in the third. Texas held Columbia to just four power plays and didn't take a third period penalty. Both teams went 0 for 4 on the power play. Matt Yeats made his 11th consecutive start for the Wildcatters. With the win, the Wildcatters are now in first place by themselves with 64 points.
