Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, CA Feb. 13 - The Bakersfield Jam started its first home win streak of the season as they took down the Dakota Wizards in Bakersfield Tuesday night with a 90 - 86 victory before a crowd of 1,825. This was the second time in three days the Jam beat the Wizards. Bakersfield was led by Tamar Slay who posted 21 points and 4 rebounds in the game.
Early on, it appeared that Dakota was destined to win the game. They started the game playing great, attaining a lead of as much as 13 points and shutting down every Jam attempt at a comeback. However, Bakersfield was able to turn the tide in the fourth quarter, holding the Wizards to only 9 points while posting 23, en route to the 4 point victory.
"This was one of our best games," said Jam coach Jim Harrick. "We played with a ton of energy in the fourth quarter, and we had a great game defensively. This is a much different and more competitive team than we had earlier this year, and it showed tonight."
Tuesday's victory improved Bakersfield's record to 9 - 22. Patrick O'Bryant came up huge for the Jam once again as he put up 10 points while pulling down 13 rebounds. Mateen Cleaves added 11 points and 8 assists.
The Wizards were led by Quemont Greer who tallied 23 points and 8 rebounds. James Maye added 15 points and 5 rebounds as well.
The Jam and Wizards will face off again Sunday March 4th in Bismarck.
