Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ (February 14, 2007) - A four-point night for Troy Riddle and a 24-save performance by Gregg Naumenko helped the Trenton Titans shut out the Johnstown Chiefs, 5-0, in front of 2,201 at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Wednesday.
Riddle recorded two goals and two assists on the night, but his 18th marker of the season got the scoring started 6:33 into the contest. Riddle was able to free himself from a defenseman before taking a feed at the far post and lifting the puck top shelf over Chiefs goalie Morgan Cey.
With his team leading 3-0 at the beginning of the third period and skating on the penalty kill, Riddle put the game out of reach when he intercepted Randy Rowe's pass at the blueline and took it the other way for the breakaway goal at 5:53.
Mike Pandolfo matched a Titans landmark and pushed the lead to three goals at 13:32 of the middle frame as Les Haggett's pass on the tape was quickly wristed into the back of the net. Pandolfo's 35th of the year tied the Titans' record for goals scored in a season, set by Matt Zultek in 2003-2004.
Scott Bertoli and Haggett also lit the lamp for the Titans, as they went for 2-for-10 on the power play.
Naumenko gathered up the eighth shutout of his professional career, as the Titans held the opposition scoreless for the first time this season.
