Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, California (Thursday, June 13) - The Iowa Cubs (36-31) clawed past the Fresno Grizzlies (33-33) 3-2 from Chukchansi Park. It was Fresno's fourth straight one-run game and fifth in their past six games (3-2 in that span). The Grizzlies are 12-13 in those contests with an 8-6 mark at home. Colin Rea (7-1) earned the win after five innings of two-run ball. Austin Voth (3-5) suffered the defeat after seven solid frames of work. He struck out seven.

A two-run first jump-started the scoring for Iowa. Ian Happ whacked the third single of the inning, bumping in Donnie Dewees. Then, Jim Adduci raced home on a sacrifice fly by Robel Garcia. The Cubs would take the lead in the fifth and not look back. Adduci drove in Dixon Machado with a single to right. Iowa's bullpen allowed one hit in four frames, fanning four to preserve the advantage. Rowan Wick picked up his third save to end the evening.

Brandon Snyder highlighted the Fresno offense with a big fly to right field in the fourth inning. It was his 13th wallop of the season. Dewees tried robbing the ball by hopping over the short wall. Jose Marmolejos added the other RBI, a knock in the first. He has seven RBI in his last three contests. Fernando Rodney punched out a pair in the ninth.
