SPOKANE, WA - The Prince George Cougars picked up their third consecutive win to start the 2025-26 season, edging the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 on Friday night at Spokane Veterans Arena. Terik Parascak and Kooper Gizowski provided the offence with a goal each, while Josh Ravensbergen earned his first win of the season with a 26-save performance.

"Ultimately, the game was impressive," said Assistant Coach Carter Rigby in the post-game show on 94.3 The Goat. "After having 13 days off of games, to come into a tough barn, and win a one goal game. Since Day 1 of Camp, the message has been the same and the guys have been able to grasp it and translate it. Just the working class group that we have this year is nice to see."

The Cougars controlled the opening period, outshooting Spokane 14-6. The highlight came late in the frame when newly named captain Bauer Dumanski dropped the gloves with Chase Harrington. Both goaltenders, Ravensbergen and Carter Esler, were sharp, keeping the game scoreless through 20 minutes.

The second period saw more fireworks, with Dermot Johnston squaring off against Owen Schoettler early. Spokane broke the deadlock at 12:37 when Sam Oremba jammed in a rebound to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead. The Cougars responded quickly, however, as Dumanski sent Parascak in alone on a breakaway. The Washington Capitals' 2024 first-round pick made a slick move to beat Esler and tie the game at one, where it stayed after two periods.

In the third, Prince George capitalized on special teams, earning five power-plays. Former Chief Kooper Gizowski delivered the dagger at 12:22, blasting a one-timer from the left circle to put the Cougars ahead 2-1. Strong play from Ravensbergen the rest of the way sealed the victory, improving the Cougars to 3-0 and leaving them as the lone undefeated team in the WHL.

"Josh (Ravensbergen) is a first-rounder for a reason," added Rigby. "We are obviously very confident in him. He's our guy and he makes everyone around him better."

Prince George will look to complete the weekend sweep when the two teams meet again tomorrow at 6:05 pm.
