Coach Laxdal to host coach's clinic at Idaho Iceworld

BOISE, Idaho - Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal will be hosting a coach's clinic at Idaho IceWorld on Sunday, February 12th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The clinic is free and open to anybody interested in learning more about coaching and working with youth hockey players. The instruction will include both off and on ice techniques as well as coaching philosophies.

Britt Talbert, Director of Hockey Operations for Idaho IceWorld said, "Coach Laxdal can offer a unique perspective on coaching as he brings his vast experiences from Europe, the NHL and all across North America from both a player's and coach's perspective. We're thrilled that he is interested in helping us cultivate youth hockey in the Treasure Valley for players and coaches alike."

Coach Laxdal is a Level 4 NCCP (National Coaches Certification Program), and his background includes: Drafted by the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs 1984; Played for Toronto Maple Leafs & New York Islanders; 17 years Pro experience; 21 years Hockey School experience; Served as Youth Hockey Director for two years (Odessa, TX); 1986 Canadian National Jr. Team Silver Medalist; Calder Cup Champion AHL (Springfield Indians) 1989-90; and Memorial Cup Champion WHL (Portland Winterhawks) 1982-83

Participants should bring skates, sticks and gloves and be prepared to spend some time on the ice with Coach Laxdal.
