Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH- The Bombers put themselves in a tough position early on as the Nailers would jump out to a 4-0 lead at the end of one.

Newly acquired David Currie got the start in net and what a rough start it would be. The Nailers scored three of their four first period goals within a 5 minute span, including two on the power play.

The physical play picked up after that, but the Nailers would add another and take a 4-0 lead into the locker room after twenty minutes.

The Bombers were not about to just let Wheeling take one from them in front of almost 4,000 strong and they would find a way to cut the lead in half within that second period.

Jay Latulippe (12) got it started with a smart goal on a wrap around from behind the net, assists to Noel (8) and Nathe (11) at the 6:36 mark in the second, to cut the lead to 4-1.

Just over seven minutes later Tyson Teplitsky (7) would take a shot from the point right off the face-off win by Scott Cameron (30) and sneak one in on the short side of Wheeling goaltender Andy Franck at the 13:33 mark to bring the Bombers within two making it 4-2 at the end of forty.

The third period would be best described as lockdown mode by the Nailers, although the Bombers out shot the Nailers 15-0 in the third, Wheeling would hold on for a 4-2 victory and snap their three game winless streak, also ending the Bombers two game winning streak as well.

Bombers defenseman Jeremy Van Hoof was injured early in the third period after getting smashed face first into the glass behind the Dayton net on a dirty hit by the Nailers Curtis Patrick. Van Hoof was carried off the ice by the Bombers medical staff, was then stitched up and is questionable for the weekend.

The Bombers continue their 15th Anniversary season in Johnstown tonight at 7:00. The game can be heard on the web at www.daytonbombers.com. Dayton Bombers Hockey, celebrating 15 years of fun.
