Fresno Grizzlies News Release
El Paso, Texas - The El Paso Chihuahuas (52-33) bit the Fresno Grizzlies (44-42) 8-4 in the series finale from Southwest University Park. Both clubs combined for 24 hits with seven going for extra-bases. Fresno starter Joe Ross (2-1) suffered the loss against his former organization. The righty struck out seven over six innings. El Paso reliever Kazuhisa Makita (1-0) relished the decision after three shutout frames. He fanned five.
Jake Noll (two-run) and Taylor Gushue rocketed back-to-back homers in a four-run second for the Grizzlies. Noll and Gushue became the second Fresno duo this season to accomplish the feat, after Jacob Wilson (two-run) and Raudy Read did it on April 16th versus Salt Lake. Brandon Snyder picked up the other RBI, a single to center prior to the clouts. Snyder tied his season-high hit streak at seven games.
Michael Gettys headlined the Chihuahuas offense with a three-run dinger in the bottom of the eighth. His 21st longball of the year made it a four-run advantage, allowing Eric Yardley to secure his fifth save. Ty France pounded three hits and Luis Urias added a pair of knocks in the victory.
