From the Notes

Wes Benjamin: 25-year-old Wes Benjamin starts for the Sounds in tonight's finale. The left-hander is making his 17th appearance (16th start) of the season and is 3-5 with a 6.56 ERA while covering 72.2 innings. Benjamin has yielded 91 hits and 35 walks to go with his 61 strikeouts. His last outing was on June 27 against Memphis and he earned his 3rd win of the year. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks to go along with 5 strikeouts. The Sounds have won 6 of the last 8 games Benjamin has pitched in, including a current 4-game winning streak. Benjamin spent the majority of his 2018 season with Double-A Frisco where he went 5-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 15 starts. The southpaw spent nearly two months on the disabled list from June 7-July 31 with a left elbow strain. Despite missing time, Benjamin led the Frisco staff in wins and ranked among team leaders in strikeouts (3rd), starts (T3rd) and innings (4th). In his minor league career, Benjamin is 24-23 with a 4.25 ERA while covering 78 games (74 starts). The Rangers drafted the Illinois native in the 5th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Kansas University.

Searching for a Series Win: A win tonight would give the Sounds a third consecutive series win. Prior to the current series against the Dodgers, Nashville swept Memphis in 4 games and took 3 of 5 against New Orleans. Nashville is 9-4 during the stretch.

White is One Shy of 10/10: Nashville's Eli White swiped his 9th stolen base of the season last night. The SS/CF has 10 home runs and is looking to become the 12th player in the Pacific Coast League with at least 10 home runs and at least 10 stolen bases. White has not accomplished the feat in his career.

Just Keep it Close: The Sounds have had a lot of success in close games in 2019. When playing in one or two-run games, Nashville has posted a 22-18 record. In games decided by three or more runs, the team is 15-29.

Save It: Nashville closer David Carpenter added on to his league-leading save total last night with number 14. Carpenter has saved four of Nashville's last six games and is a perfect 14-for-14. The 2019 Pacific Coast League All-Star is 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA (24.0 IP/6 ER) with 27 strikeouts. He has limited PCL opponents to a .221 batting average.

Another Multi-Hit Game for Granite: Outfielder Zack Granite posted his 6th 3-hit game of the season last night and his team-leading 27th multi-hit game of the year. The next closest Sounds on the multi-hit game list are Andy Ibáñez and Carlos Tocci with 20 each. Granite's 91 hits in 2019 is good for 8th-most in the PCL. Only Granite and San Antonio's Mauricio Dubon (3rd, 100) represent the American Conference side of the PCL in the Top 10 hits list.
