Chasers Drop Series Finale in Louisville on Rainy Afternoon

Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Storm Chasers and Bats battled through more than two-and-a-half hours of rain delays on get-out day from Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats took the series finale 7-6 over the Storm Chasers, with the series resulting in a split, 3-3. Omaha (55-61) won the season series 10-8.

Ronnie Dawson started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with a solo homer that gave Louisville (49-68) the early lead.

Shortstop Maikel Garcia countered with a solo shot of his own in the third to knot the score at 1-1. Garcia now has four home runs in 12 games with the Storm Chasers after hitting just four with Double-A Northwest Arkansas in 78 games.

Right fielder Brewer Hicklen and center fielder Dairon Blanco hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning, the eighth time that Omaha has hit back-to-back home runs this season. Second baseman Iván Castillo scored to give the Storm Chasers the 4-1 lead when he executed a double steal with designated hitter Clay Dungan and the catcher's throw to second base went into center field.

Through the rain, the Bats recorded three consecutive singles to start the fifth inning before Cristian Santana emptied the bases and gave Louisville a 5-4 lead with a grand slam. Before the next pitch was thrown, the grounds crew unrolled the tarp and covered the field for the game's second rain delay.

After the dela, the Bats extended their lead when Dawson sent his second home run of the day over the wall to give Louisville a 7-3 lead after five innings of play.

Omaha responded in the sixth with a pair of runs on an RBI double from Iván Castillo and a sacrifice fly from designated hitter Clay Dungan to cut the deficit to just one run.

The Storm Chasers were not able to tie the game back up, despite keeping the Bats off the scoreboard after the fifth inning. The Bats took the series finale 7-6.

Omaha is off on Monday before returning to action on Tuesday for a six-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Tuesday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with coverage set to begin at 6:45 p.m. on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
