Fresno, CA-The Pacific Coast League announced the roster for their 2005 Triple-A All-Star team that will compete against the International League on Wednesday, July 13 at Raley Field in Sacramento. Michael Cervenak, the first baseman for the Fresno Grizzlies, has been selected by the composite votes of general managers, field managers and media outlets throughout the Pacific Coast League.
The 28-year-old minor league veteran is currently leading all of triple-A baseball in RBI with 59 in 70 games played thus far. Cervenak is second on the Grizzlies with a .311 batting average, along with amassing 14 doubles, one triple and eight home runs in 270 at bats this season.
Cervenak spent the 2001-2003 seasons and a majority of the 2004 season with the Norwich Navigators, the Giants' double-A affiliate before settling in as the everyday first baseman with the Grizzlies this season. He won the Giants' organizational triple crown in 2004, leading all San Francisco farmhands with a .328 batting average, 26 home runs and 98 RBI over 120 games at Norwich and Fresno.
