Memphis, Tenn. - The Redbirds offense came alive as Memphis rolled over Round Rock 12-3 Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
Nine different Redbirds had at least one hit and six different players drove in runs in the 14-hit attack. Memphis put the game out of reach in the seventh with five runs. 2B Hector Luna doubled in between walks to 1B Chris Duncan and SS John Nelson. C Mike Mahoney then doubled to drive in a pair of runs before Brandon Berger had a pinch-hit three-run home run to cap the rally. Luna led the way with a 3-for-5 night and two runs scored. Duncan and LF John Gall each hit home runs and Gall had three RBI.
Memphis starter Mark Nussbeck (1-3) earned his first win with six innings of work. He allowed two runs on five hits while fanning five batters. Tim McClaskey (0-1) took the loss for Round Rock after allowing eight runs on seven hits.
The âBirds and Express will conclude their four-game series tomorrow night with game time scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Round Rock will send undefeated Taylor Buchholz (6-0) to the mound and Memphis will start LHP Bill Pulsipher (1-2) to go for the series win.
