
Two Stingers named to 2005 PCL All-Star team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-The Pacific Coast League (PCL) today announced the 2005 Triple-A All-Star team to compete against the International League's All-Stars in the 18th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 13th at Raley Field in Sacramento, California. LHP Corey Lee and LHP Dusty Bergman have been selected to represent the Stingers in the Triple-A version of the midsummer classic.
Lee, 27, currently ranks fifth in the League with a 2.90 ERA (71.1 IP - 23 ER) and leads the Stingers' staff with 70 strikeouts. He has posted a 5-2 record so far on the campaign, and seven of his twelve starts have been quality starts (six or more innings, allowing three runs or less). Bergman, 27, has posted a 3-3 record and 2.58 ERA (38.1 IP - 11 ER) with six walks and 30 strikeouts this season. Bergman hasn't allowed a run in his last five relief appearances.
Two former Stingers have also been named to the PCL All-Star team. INF Rick Short, the last Salt Lake player to win the PCL batting title (.356 batting average in 2002), will represent the New Orleans Zephyrs on the PCL squad. Short is batting .377 (81-for-215) with six homers and 39 RBI in 61 games for the Zephyrs this season. INF Trent Durrington, the only Australian to ever play for the Stingers (2001-2003), was named a PCL All-Star as a representative of the Nashville Sounds. Durrington is batting .290 (65-for-244) with 44 runs scored, 24 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 70 games for the Sounds this year.
The 2005 Triple-A All-Star game will be televised live on ESPN2 and can be heard on each team's local radio stations and the American Forces Radio.
