'Canes Assign Derek Joslin, Zac Dalpe to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned defenseman Derek Joslin and forward Zac Dalpe to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Joslin, 24, is joining Charlotte for conditioning purposes. The Richmond Hill, Ont., native has played in 14 of Carolina's 41 games this season, registering one goal and earning one assist (2 points), while averaging 15:55 of ice time per game. Joslin (6'1", 210 lbs.) is in his fifth full professional season and has scored three goals and earned 11 assists in 84 career NHL games with San Jose and Carolina. He was drafted by the Sharks in the fifth round, 149th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, and acquired by Carolina via trade in February 2011.
Dalpe, 22, rejoins the Checkers after playing in each of the Hurricanes' last four games. The Paris, Ont., native has scored one goal and earned one assist (2 points) in 13 NHL games with Carolina this season, and has four goals and four assists (8 points) in 16 AHL games this year. Dalpe (6'1", 195 lbs.) is in his second full professional season, and has scored four goals and earned two assists (6 points) in 28 career NHL games with the Hurricanes. Carolina drafted Dalpe in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
