
Colby Robak Named to 2012 AHL All-Star Team

SAN ANTONIO (January 4, 2012) - The American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that San Antonio Rampage defenseman Colby Robak has been selected to the Western Conference AHL All-Star Team for the league's 2012 AHL All-Star Classic set to be played on Jan. 30 in Atlantic City, NJ.
Robak, 21, leads the Rampage with a plus-12 rating and is second on the team in points (19) and assists (14). The Dauphin, Manitoba native has five goals and 14 assists through 33 games this season. Robak earns his first AHL All-Star Classic selection in his second year in the AHL. He has appeared in 109 career AHL games with 12 goals and 31 assists with Rochester (2010-11) and San Antonio (2011-12). Robak was selected by the Florida Panthers in the second round (46th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Robak is among eight defensemen, 13 forwards and three goaltenders representing the Western Conference. He is the 11th player to be nominated to represent the Rampage in the annual event and was chosen by a committee of the league's coaches and AHL fans.
The 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League, competing in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition and the AHL All-Star Game. Of the 562 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Dan Boyle, Daniel Briere, Brian Campbell, Zdeno Chara, Miikka Kiprusoff, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Bobby Ryan, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Tomas Vokoun.
The 2012 AHL All-Star Classic, pitting the top players from the AHL's Eastern Conference against the best of the Western Conference, will begin with the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m.; the AHL All-Star Game will follow on Monday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m.
