
Panthers Recall Markstrom from Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (January 4, 2012) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). In addition, goaltender Brian Foster has been assigned to San Antonio (AHL).
Markstrom, 21, has played in six games with the Panthers this season going 2-3-1 with a .928 save percentage. He made his first career NHL start on Oct. 18, 2011 at Washington, stopping 29-of-31 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Capitals. He earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22, 2011 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third period relief appearance. Markstrom stopped 40-of-41 shots to earn his first complete game win on Oct. 24, 2011 at Montreal.
The Gavle, Sweden native has played in 14 games with San Antonio this season going 6-7-0 with a .909 save percentage. Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Foster, 24, has appeared in 11 games for the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) going 4-6-0 with a .888 save percentage. He has played in eight games with Cincinnati (ECHL) this season, going 7-1-1 with a .906 save percentage. The Pembroke, N.H., native was drafted by Florida in the fifth round (161st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Rampage continue a back-to-back series in Charlotte tonight at 6 p.m. after a 2-0 shutout win over the Checkers last night at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Rampage will return home this Friday for a matchup with in-state rival Texas Stars at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Friday is a KZEP Dollar Drink Night in which draft beer and fountain soda is only $1.
