Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Dylan Olsen from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs and added forward Andrew Shaw to the active roster.
In addition, the IceHogs have returned forward David Toews on loan to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
Shaw earns the addition to the Blackhawks roster one day after signing a three-year NHL contract with Chicago. The rookie center's 12 goals are second most on the IceHogs this season, and his 21 points (12g-9a) are third for Rockford. A Belleville, Ontario, native, Shaw's 80 PIMs on the season are second among IceHogs skaters.
Olsen was the Blackhawks first selection (28th overall) in the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The 21-year-old defenseman has tallied one goal, one assist and 38 penalty minutes in 30 regular-season tilts this year with the IceHogs in his first full professional campaign. Over parts of the last two seasons, the Calgary, Alberta, native has registered six points (1g- 5a) and 48 PIMs in 72 regular-season AHL contests.
Also in his first professional campaign, Toews has appeared in two games for Rockford this season. The center has skated in 24 games with the Walleye in 2011-12, recording nine points on seven goals and two assists.
Next Home Game: Monday, Jan. 16 vs. Texas Stars. Game time is 1:05 p.m. The IceHogs return home for the first time in more than two weeks for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. matinee game to take on the Stars for the second and final time at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 1,500 kids 14 and under will pick up an IceHogs Drawstring Bag courtesy of Frito Lay.
