Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON (JANUARY 4, 2012) --- Jon DiSalvatore and Matt Hackett have been named to the AHL's Western Conference All Star Team and will represent the Houston Aeros at the 2012 AHL All Star Classic on Jan. 29-30 in Atlantic City. DiSalvatore, 30 (3/30/81) leads the Aeros with 27 points (10-17') in 34 games and serves as team captain. He made his Minnesota Wild debut on Dec. 28, 2011 in Nashville, skating 14:27 with two shots, two PIM and one hit.

He led the Aeros with 61 points (28-33=61) in 80 games last season, while tying for the team lead in post-season goals (seven) as Houston advanced to the Calder Cup Finals. He played in all 24 playoff games, colÂ-lecting 12 points (7-5=12) and 12 PIM. His goal in Game Seven of the Western Conference Finals catapulted the Aeros to the Calder Cup Finals.

Now in his ninth AHL season, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Bangor, Maine, skated in five NHL games with St. Louis in 2005-06, recording two penalty minutes. DiSalvatore was San Jose's fourth-round pick (No. 104 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Hackett, 21 (3/7/90), is 12-5-3 with a 2.22 goals against average (GAA), a .923 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 21 games with the Aeros this season. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 6, 2011 against San Jose, replacing the injured Josh Harding at 1:11 of the first period (with the Wild trailing, 1-0) and stopped all 34 shots he faced to backstop a 2-1 victory. In his second appearance and first start, Dec. 8, Hackett made 42 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Hackett set a record for the longest shutout streak by a goaltender to start an NHL career, shutting out the opposition for 102:48, before Los Angeles scored. That run helped lead to his being named the NHL's second star of the week for the period ending Dec. 11, 2011.

He made his AHL debut in 2010-11, playing 45 games with the Aeros and collecting a 23-16-4 record with two shutouts along with a .916 SV% and a 2.37 GAA. Hackett set an Aeros playoff record by starting in all 24 postseason games as the team advanced to the Calder Cup finals, posting a record of 14-10 with a 2.50 GAA, a .903 SV% and one shutout in the postseason

The 6-foot-2, 179-pound native of London, Ont., was Minnesota's third-round pick (No. 77 overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Aeros host the Rockford IceHogs this Friday at Toyota Center with the puck drop set for 7:35 p.m. Visit Aeros.com for additional schedule and ticket info.
