Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is home to The Annex and The Cube, announce the complex will be hosting the Kalamazoo Community Golf Show, USA Hockey "Try Hockey for Free" and the Killamazoo Derby Darlins this Saturday, January 16th.

The day will start in the Cube Viewing Area, where from 9a.m.-4p.m. local golf shops and courses will be on hand for the Kalamaozoo Community Golf Show. This FREE admission event is a great way to get ahead start of the golfing season and see all the new 2013 merchandise that will help your game this season.

From noon-1:30 p.m. The Annex will be the site for "Try Hockey for Free", hosted by the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association (KOHA) Part of an USA Hockey initiative, the Wings Stadium Complex will be one of over 430 sites across the country that will host "Try Hockey for Free" events this Saturday. This event is designed to introduce kids ages 4-9 to the sport of youth hockey.

Parents interested in registering their children for this FREE event can register online at www.tryhockeyforfree.com.

While skates and other hockey equipment will be provided for use during the event for participants, due to limit amount of equipment, the complex is suggesting participants that have their own gear use it for this event.

Besides being the a site for "Try Hockey for Free", Wings Stadium will be the west Michigan host site for Warrior Hockey Day in Michigan, where representatives from Warrior Hockey will be at the complex will cool giveaways and product demonstrations for those in attendance.

All KOHA kids aged 10 & under are invited to participate in the "Chara Challenge" - a nationwide fastest shot competition. You can track your progress and instantly compare yourself to others across the nation! There are different age groups and the winner from each age group from the weekend will win a Warrior Dynasty AX1 stick!

Warrior will have a tent set up and sticks to demo, including the brand new Dynasty AX1 and the Covert DT1.

The "Chara Challenge" will be set-up during ALL of the U8 ice times (as well as during Try Hockey For Free), and ALL KOHA Squirts (House C, House B, A/AA) are invited to stop by for the challenge.

To cap off Saturday, the Killamazoo Derby Darlins will continue their 2013 home season with a double header against Brew City.

The Killamazoo Killacrew will begin the night at 5:30 p.m. as they battle the Brew City Bruisers All Stars, while the Derby Darlins will face the Brew City Bruisers Battlestars in the main event immediately after.

Imagine fans cheering for high-speed action and bone-jarring hits from talented athletes. While that could describe the Kalamazoo Wings, it also describes the sport of Roller Derby and in particular the Killa Krew and the Derby Darlins.

A high-octane sport, Roller derby takes place on a circuit track. The two teams playing send five players each onto the track - three blockers (defense), one pivot (last line of defense) and one jammer (scorer).

Starting back in 1922, roller derby reached its initial peak in the late 70's and early 80's. Known for its physical nature and entertaining brand of sport, roller derby is once again gaining the eye of the American public.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $16 at the door for adults, students are $11 in advance and $15 at the door, while children 6-12 are only $5 and kids under 5 are FREE. Tickets are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster location.

Stadium Management Company owns the Wings Stadium Complex, the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team, Wings West and the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings hockey team. The Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 6,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and can hold up to 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube plays host to both ice and non-ice events. Wings West is comprised of two ice sheets plus Old Burdick's Restaurant at Wings West. The Borgess Ice Rink can accommodate more than 1,200 fans for Jr. K-Wings games. The Olympic Rink plays host to both ice and non-ice events. Both facilities are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
