Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (2/13/13) - The San Francisco Bulls overcame a two-goal deficit, using four third-period goals to defeat the Idaho Steelheads, 6-3, on Wednesday night.

Idaho (32-14-5) lost its first game in regulation this season when leading after two periods.

Things started good for Idaho as they took a two-goal lead on Tyler Gron's 10th goal of the season and David deKastrozza's 15th, making it 2-0 with four minutes left in the opening period. San Francisco got one back on an Alex Tuckerman goal at 17:07 of the period, but Idaho held a 2-1 lead after one period.

The lead would stretch back to two at 8:29 of the second when deKastrozza redirected a Jace Coyle shot past San Francisco's Thomas Heemskerk on the power play to make it 3-1. The goal was deKastrozza's 16th, a new professional career high, and also marked the 11th straight game where Idaho had netted a power-play goal. But again, San Francisco would answer quickly on Peter Sivak's tally from the slot at 11:25 to cut Idaho's lead to 3-2.

Late in the second, Idaho was hit with back-to-back penalties, setting San Francisco up with a lengthy two-man advantage carrying over into the third period. The Bulls would tie the game 1:05 into the third on a Rob Kwiet power-play tally. Then, five minutes later, Kwiet would score at even-strength from the right circle to give the Bulls a 4-3 lead. That score would hold until the final four minutes when Kris Belan deflected an Idaho pass to neutral, carried it into the offensive zone, and beat Josh Robinson with a wrist shot at 16:42 to give the Bulls a two-goal cushion at 5-3. Sivak added an empty-net goal with 13 seconds left to conclude the scoring.

Robinson took the loss, allowing five goals on 35 shots for Idaho. Heemskerk got the win, turning aside 41 of Idaho's 44 shots. Idaho was 1-5 on the power play and San Francisco was 1-4.

Idaho now ventures off on a three-game weekend road trip, playing at Las Vegas Friday, Ontario Saturday, and then back to Las Vegas on Sunday.
