
Bishop, Jakaitis Lift Stingrays over Everblades

North Charleston, SC - Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 39 saves and forward Hunter Bishop scored twice to lead the South Carolina Stingrays (26-23-1-3) to a 3-2 victory over the Florida Everblades (24-17-4-5) at the North Charleston Coliseum Wednesday night.
Stingrays defenseman Scooter Vaughan kicked off the scoring 5:47 into the first period lifting a wrist shot over the glove of Everblades goaltender Pat Nagle (L, 19 saves on 22 shots) from between the faceoff circles. Defenseman Cam Brodie and forward Patrick Gaul added assists.
Bishop made it a 2-0 Stingrays lead 49 seconds into the second period burying his team-leading 22 goal of the season with help from defenseman Tommy Cross and forward Robby Dee. The Everblades jumped on the board with a tally from forward Mathieu Roy at 9:40. Forward Brody Sutter tied the contest at 16:58 with his seventh goal of the season tapping a loose puck past the right arm of Jakaitis.
Late in the third period, Bishop buried the game-winning tally snapping a pass from defenseman Luka Vidmar past a surprised Nagle along the goal line. Defenseman Derek Foam registered the second assist. Both teams finished the contest 0-for-2 on the power play.
The Stingrays open a three-game road trip against the Orlando Solar Bears on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida and return to the Coliseum on Friday, February 22 for the Dog Days of Winter against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Bring your dog to the game!
