Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - February 13, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that goaltender Marc Cheverie has been recalled from his loan to the club by the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators.
Cheverie, 23, appeared in one game with Elmira after being loaned to the Jackals by Binghamton on February 8. He stopped 25 shots and earned his third shutout of the season in Elmira's 5-0 win over Wheeling on February 10. That established a new Jackals ECHL record for shutouts in a season by one goalie.
Cheverie heads back to Binghamton after Nathan Lawson was injured in a net-front collision last night during the B-Sens' game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Lawson played 5:42 of the game before Robin Lehner had to come on in relief.
This marks the second time Cheverie has been called up to Binghamton this season. He was originally called up on January 12, following the end of the National Hockey League lockout, and made one appearance for the B-Sens. The third year pro out of the University of Denver stopped 25 of 29 shots in a 4-2 loss at Bridgeport on January 19.
