
Former Aces Forward Peluso Makes NHL Debut

Former Alaska Aces forward Anthony Peluso made his National Hockey League debut Tuesday night for the Winnipeg Jets in a 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Along with former ECHL goaltender Darcy Kuemper, they became the 500th and 501st players to play in the National Hockey League after the ECHL. Peluso skated with the Aces for part of his rookie season, before spending the last three years in the American Hockey League. This week the Aces travel to Utah for a four-game series against the Grizzlies, beginning on Friday, February 15. Alaska returns home to host the Las Vegas Wranglers in three straight on Friday, February 22. All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD. Peluso, 23, appeared in 27 games for the Aces and had 11 points (4g, 7a) and 48 penalty minutes in the 2009-2010 season. He also appeared in all four playoff games for Alaska that year, notching one goal and six penalty minutes. The 6'4", 234 lbs. North York, Ontario native had one shot on goal and four penalty minutes for the Jets. Peluso was a sixth-round selection (160th overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He has 29 points (15g, 14a) in 181 career American Hockey League games with the Peoria Rivermen.
Peluso became the eighth Aces player to make his NHL debut after skating with the Aces, joining Chris Beckford-Tseu, Zack Fitzgerald, Tomas Kana, D.J. King, Charles Linglet, Chris Minard, and Ryan Reeves. Additional off-ice members of the Aces who have gone from Alaska to the NHL are current Los Angeles Kings Assistant Coach and former St. Louis Blues Head Coach, Davis Payne, New York Islanders Assistant Coach, Brent Thompson, and Edmonton Oilers Play-by-Play Broadcaster, Jack Michaels.
